Educational Partnerships

For students interested in pursuing a more in-depth study of a particular artistic medium, the Life Through Art Foundation has created a multi-tiered mentorship program. The goal of this program is to create a community of artists that are interested in cultivating arts appreciation and education. Students can apply for a one-year mentorship in an area of their choosing; areas of study include, but are not limited to, theatrical studies, visual arts, dance, music, creative writing, film studies and culinary arts. The foundation provides students with any supplies or instruments that they might need. It is required that all mentors volunteer their time for the program. The foundation in turn provides mentors with master classes taught by professional artists and a teacher’s referral service that can be accessed through the Life Through Art Website. Adults and students looking for private instruction in the arts can visit the website and show their support for the arts by choosing a teacher that is donating his or her time as a mentor. The LTAF Innovation program provides grants for individuals or groups to develop innovative methodologies or educational programs in the arts for children.

Research has shown that exposure, education and appreciation for learning the arts nurtures the development of cognitive, social, and personal competencies. In pursuing our goal to provide children and young artists with meaningful and beneficial educational experiences in the arts, the Life Through Art Foundation has developed programs that are meant to engage students on multiple levels. The arts encourage learning as a process of discovery that engages the whole child – body, mind, and heart.
